One of the main benefits that draws people to Windridge is the community's great location.  Shopping, schools, churches, entertainment, and fine dining are all nearby.  And, because I-70 and I-465 are both just minutes away, it's easy to reach downtown or suburban offices.  Indianapolis International Airport can be accessed in about 20 minutes.  See the map!  Residents often comment how they enjoy living in a secure, gated environment yet they can actually walk to some of the area's stores.  The savings in drive time and fuel costs can be significant.

It's nice to know that quality merchants are virtually at your door. O'Malia's and the 56th Street Fish Market offer everything for the gourmet. There's CVS, Walgreens, Speedway, Charter One and Regions Banks, Deering Cleaners, The Hilltop and Happy Garden Restaurants, Starbucks and more! Dinius Auto Care and Noah's Animal Clinic are there too. The result is less driving and more time to relax. A short drive away you'll find the trendy boutiques and restaurants of Broad Ripple Village.  Equally nearby is the popular Fashion Mall for upscale merchants such as Tiffany's, SAKS Fifth Avenue, The Cheesecake Factory, Pottery Barn, and many more. Nora, Castleton Mall, and numerous other retail choices are within easy reach.

Education

In addition to convenient public schools, Windridge is within walking distance of the top-ranked Cathedral High School.  As a college preparatory institution Cathedral leads the way with nationally recognized programs. Its beautiful campus adjoins Windridge and, on many days, residents can hear the school's lovely carillon counting the hours.

Many other learning options are just a short drive away, including a full range of OASIS classes for seniors at Glendale Shopping Center which is also the location of a spacious branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library.  This 33,000 sq.ft. facility was the first of it's kind in a shopping mall and provides books, CD's, computers, films, even a reading room with a fireplace!

Recreation

There's just no better location for an active lifestyle!  For a start, our private roads provide nearly two miles of safe walking, jogging or riding over rolling and wooded grounds.  Enjoy the peacefulness of our natural setting but watch out, you might surprise a deer or raccoon sharing your way! 

For those who want longer journeys the Fall Creek Trail passes right outside our gates.  This beautiful path allows users to go from the Keystone trailhead all the way to Fall Creek Road without crossing a street.  Amenities include a canoe launch, benches, and other trailheads with parking. The winding road through nature extends into Skiles Test Park and features numerous vistas and resting spots..

For the serious enthusiast there are connections to the Monon Trail and others that can take you as far as Carmel or Downtown Indianapolis!

Interested in swimming or tennis?  For a quick tennis match, there's the recently upgraded court on our grounds.  But Windridge is fortunate to be located just two minutes away from a premier facility with membership available at modest cost.  The Devon Country Club features the city's largest heated pool, picnic areas, and lighted USTA-approved tennis courts.  Swimming and tennis lessons are available, and the club offers numerous family-oriented activities.

Golfing and fishing? We're just ten minutes away from Indiana's exciting new state park at the former Fort Harrison military base. Its acclaimed 18-hole golf course covering 238 acres was designed by Pete Dye and offers multiple levels of challenge with reasonable greens fees.  In 2005 Golf Week endorsed it as the #1 public course in Indiana.  Other park attractions are the beautiful inn and fine restaurant, several fishing lakes, walking trails, plus picnic & grilling facilities. Additional golf courses, such as Sahm and Pleasant Run, are just a "short drive" away!

And don't forget, our location near the Interstates means you can zip Downtown to watch professional sports, visit numerous museums, or enjoy symphony and theatre in less than fifteen minutes!
